DiDi to enter the freight logistics market (Source: DiDi)
Chinese ride-hailing platform Didi Chuxing (“DiDi”) today announced that it will launch an on-demand logistics service in Chengdu and Hangzhou on June 23. From that day, users in these two cities may use this same-city logistics service via DiDi’s China app.
To date, over 20,000 drivers have already signed up, with driver recruitment and training still in progress.
Didi selected Chengdu and Hangzhou as the first two pilot cities after a comprehensive assessment based on user votes and driver registrations in various cities, a Didi employee told TechWeb. The person also revealed that according to the previous open enrollment, more than 20,000 freight drivers from both places have signed up.
Right now, the same-city logistics field in China still has a low penetration rate and is full of opportunities. The person said that Didi will actively collect user feedback while trying to solve the “pain spots” in the industry. In terms of future plans, Didi will wait to polish its products and services before considering the next step of expansion.
