As a province of profound culture and long history, Zhejiang is ample in museums with distinct characteristics where local cultures are presented vividly. Thus, we are going to share with you those unique museums in Zhejiang which are sure to take your breath away!
Today, let’s take a tour to China Fan Museum.
Located near the Great Canal in Hangzhou, China Fan Museum is the first national musuem to exhibit Chinese fans. It integrates collection, exhibition, education, recreation and shopping, aiming at carrying forward consummate techniques of the Chinese in fan making and protecting traditional Chinese crafts.
The whole exhibition is divided into four parts, namely “the history of Chinese fan”, “the culture of Chinese fan”, “fan industry of China” and “exquisite craftsmanship in fan making”, through which visitors can learn about Chinese fans comprehensively and appreciate various types and delicate patterns of them, thus experiencing implicit Chinese culture.
Besides, advanced technologies are demonstrated in the museum. For example, glass visual commentary system is applied in the street of fans of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. While visitors are standing in front of the display window of folding fan, the corresponding commentaries will be projected on the surface of the glass by virtue of sensing system.
Meanwhile, robots dressed up like staff in a fan shop also appear in the museum. Facilitated by sensory, they will greet visitors passing by and provide commentary.
