The launching ceremony of “Longquan of the World: Longquan Celadon & Globalization” Exhibition was held at Jingsheng Hall of the Palace Museum in Beijing on May 15, 2019.

Co-hosted by the Palace Museum, Zhejiang Provincial Museum and Lishui Municipal CPC Committee and Government, the exhibition aims to publicize Longquan celadon.

The first stage of the exhibition will be held at the Hall of Abstinence and the Palace of Great Benevolence in the Palace Museum from July 15 to October 20, 2019; the second stage will be held at Zhejiang Provincial Museum from November 15, 2019 to February 16, 2020.

The exhibition will show around 830 cultural relics, including 507 from the Palace Museum, 205 from thirty-two museums and archaeological institutes of eighteen provinces and municipalities, and about 120 from eleven museums and archaeological institutes of six countries and regions.


35 exhibits are imitated Longquan celadon works of different periods from countries and regions such as Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Japan, Iran, Syria, Egypt and the UK.

     

From the 12th to 15th centuries, whether in China or foreign countries, whether in imperial palaces or among the folks, Longquan celadon gained huge popularity. It was one of main products exported by China to the world at that time.


The exhibition is a stereoscopic presentation of the flourishing of the Ceramic Road on the Land and the Sea since the Song and Yuan Dynasties.
